Social Media Campaign

Prior to this Facebook page I was extremely excited to make this Facebook page, hoping that I would receive success. My goal was to bring awareness  and hopefully bring school spirit to the Dixie State University football program. I continued to post things that were going  around the football program hoping that i would  receive success which i didn't. Due to the little amount of likes that was received for my Facebook page.

I don't think i received that much attention or likes because didn't market and push it as hard as i could have. Also I had showed many group from different states, I should have specifically aimed for the people of Saint George. Which would bring in a lot more local exposure to the Facebook page and the Dixie State Football program.

This post above reached the most amount of people, more many of the others. I feel that it reached the most due to the fact it was the first post and it had the new identity of the Dixie State Trailblazers. I hoped that many other of my post would receive attention, because i continued to try to get out awareness about the football program. By showing many events that public would be very interested and hopefully attend.

In conclusion, I found this assignment very interesting and i was hoping i would hopefully bring tons of attention and school spirit to the football program. My goal  was to hopefully bring many other people from other states to be a part of our program and hopefully bring attention and excitement to the program. I should have just  focused on community in Saint George, before trying to get other people from other places to join the page.

Well informed _Religion 3.0

Religion 3.0

I found this week on religion very interesting. I find religion very interesting and like to learn about other religions and be open minded. I am christian, but i am not bias when it comes to other religions. I have been truly blessed and talking about religion was very beneficial to me and the class in my eyes. It was stated that many are abandoning religion for some reason and many family to touch on religion in their households. To me that is crazy seeing how i have been going to church since a little kid. It was never forced on me , i choose to because i wanted to learn about my creator and understand why i am here.
Religion is a very interesting topic and it brings many questions and opinions that nobody can answer beside God in my opinion. You have the choice to be a part of religion it comes down to your faith and how you want to live your life. I believe that church has helped me become the man i am today and has help improve my social interactions with others. Also it taught me not judge others different than me that believe in different things.

Well Informed 2- Racism

Racism comes in many ways and it is a very sensitive topic, but Racism exist and it will continue. People no matter what they are all human being created in my opinion by God, but due to the fact that we look different we separate ourselves from other that have different skin colors or different backgrounds for some reason. Racism is world wide issue that continue day by day no matter what. Racism is prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.

I felt that Matthew Cooked did really well when explaining the origin and history of racism. He said that racism focused on at first what class you were in, but then eventually that lead to what race somebody was. He believes that many years each race has fought for equal rights, but we divided ourselves into groups which cause racial tension between inter group and the outer group. He also said that it might sound crazy but whites where slaves too, but they where still head of the black slaves and treated better. Whites seemed to be treated more favorably and promised a successful and better life. Matt also claims that 70 percent of black males do not trust the justice system whatsoever. And due to their skin color it is them against everybody.

I really enjoyed this topic and i really take it serious for the simple fact that i am bi racial. I am both black and white and proud of it. I raised to never see somebody for color, but for who the person they are. I really think Matt did a great job of stating all the facts and not being one sided at all.

Well Informed #1- future of Learning

Learning will continue to expand especially due to knew technologies in our society that are helping us succeed when come to learning. Many things have really improved learning such as computer, calculators, and the internet. Anything you need help on you can find it on World Wide Web! I plan on seeing many more advancements in the near future especially when comes to learning so each generation can continue to get better and better. I have been very lucky to have grown up with opportunity's to succeed when it comes to learning. I know this is crazy, but using a computer has always been a huge factor my success in the classroom. I am not very fond of books at all. It is crazy when i see little kids with kindles, ipads, and Iphones. I think it can be a positive and negative. You will be able to learn many things, but if we only depend on technology to learn then i think it will decrease out social skills and how we interact with others.

I am very excited for the future of learning and i'm glad to be a part of such special era to improve myself at highest ability.

OTM 3: Seeing is Believing

On The Media

This week on On The media focuses on the Muslim ban from certain countries that President Trump signed a second iteration of his executive order. Thankfully it is not has bad has the first ban; which focused on banning people green cards and making others take a religion test. Brook Gladstone states, "No longer a Muslim ban, this was a travel ban. And yet, in many respects, the second ban is likely to accomplish the same goals as the first, the very goals that nettled the courts". The main goal is to limit immigrants from countries such as Syria, Iran, Libya, Somailia, and Yemen. This will hopefully improve homeland security and make are country safer. According to Dahlia Lithwick, no matter what we are still trying ban Muslims and next minorities.




So far 13 states have backed up Trumps revised ban and will continue to support him. Other believe it is very cruel and unconstitutional. So far i feel mutual in this sitiuation. I really don't know how i feel about this because some of people of those countries are good people. Then some are bad people. I feel like President Trump no matter what will face adiversity, but big moves needs to made. Which many people won't agree with, but that is how it will go no matter what.

As I look back on my previous On the Media, I realized that i seem to be very opinionated. Also I try not to be one sided throughout my On the Media post. I noticed that me and many of my class mates agree on majority of the issues we are seeing in our post. The only thing i noticed is that I am one of the few Trump supporters. Don't get me wrong, I do feel President Trump needs to shut is mouth sometimes because he doesn't know how to speak well. He needs to delete his twitter account and get the American people on his side because we are very divided. I was even worried to put the fact that i voted for Trump because i don't want to be judged by my classmates.

Also I been staying away from social media and the media because it is so bias and one sided depending on who you are watching. Then when comes to social media, you see the most ignorant post on the planet. In no way do i defend Trump for some of his actions but, somethings fabricated to make him look worse than he is.

I need to stop being so emotional in my comments because i don't agree with everybody and i sometimes knock others opinions which is not right. I want to be open minded to others opinions and hopefully learn more from both sides of the spectrum.

OTM 2: Highly Irregular

This week on On The Media it focus on many topics that are opening many peoples eyes lately. Such as An expensive TV ad campaign has been selling Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch to the American people. Also even though the Trump wiretapping accusations might be false, we need to be aware somebody might be listening no matter what. A couple weeks ago Good ol President Trump made some bold accusations claiming that President Obama had the Trump Tower wiretapped. Which as been proved not to be true at all, but the republicans still believe their was some type of surveillance at the Trump Tower. “I recently confirmed that on numerous occasions the intelligence community incidentally collected information about US citizens involved in the Trump transition,” stated by Rep. Devin Nunes. Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, and it refers to the communications of US citizens that get swept up in surveillance of a foreign national. He described it to be very common to get a incidental collection.

Bob Garfield also talks about how Neil Gorsuch is getting extremely pushed on to the American People. The ad campaign for Gorsuch is up to 10 million dollars. They want to ensure he gets an high seat on the high court. Gorsuch is getting funded by a lot of dark money which many people are not happy with because people believe he is not a good choice due to poor decisions in the past.

I really enjoyed this weeks topic and i found many things interesting. Especially learning about the Section 702 and what it means and how it can affect us. I feel extremely alarmed that we are could possibly be spyed on and not even know it. Also Trump needs to stop tweeting cause is mouth is getting him in trouble even if is Hotel was wiretapped, just shut up and keep your mouth shut.

OTM 1: Doesn't Add Up

I found this On the Media very interesting in may ways. The prime focus was breaking down Trump's budget, how the White House is cooking the books, and why Wikileaks played the media. During the week of March 17, 2017 Garfield reported that the white house released their first budget, which hoped to propose a spending increase in Defense, homeland security, and veterans affair. Bob Garfield states, " The extent to which the proposals would punish the poor was shocking to many in the media and statements made by Trump administration officials didn't help." Also many of the republicans are questioning the CBO integrity throughout this process which would lead 24 million Americans losing insurance.


Bob Garfield also reports that Wikileaks found out that spy agencies are able to track info and get into are phones, which he stated to be extremely "scary".


I agree with Garfield when comes to them being able to get into are phones without permission is very scary. Also it seems that we have lack of privacy which i don't agree with especially if you are a normal day to day citizen. Also knowing that Wikileaks exaggerated a lot of the info is typical cause many Americans will believe everything the media says including myself even if it is false.

Facebook Campaign

My Facebook campaign will be used to promote more school spirit for football games and help the community be more aware and knowing of what is going on with the Dixie State football program. I plan posting events that football program will be having so we can get the community even more involved. Also i'll post events that the community is having so dixie state football can also support. Having a great community that supports will help the football program succeed in my eyes and feel wanted. I play for the team so i will have all the info that everybody needs to know around the community when it comes to the football program. There will be many events that the football program will be having such as are telethon fundraiser, spring ball schedule, and media day. My goal is to get everybody more involved because i promise 2017 will be a very special year for the Dixie State Trailblazers mark my words. So i want everybody to witness it and it means so much to us having the community on are side we just want to make everyone proud.

Introduction: Joshua Symonette

Hi everybody my name is Joshua Symonette, but i go by Josh normally besides when I'm in trouble. I am a communication major and i play football for Dixie State university. I had to medical redshirt this last fall due to a repair in my labrum. So i was i was home in cali rehabbing after my surgery and taking part time classes. I really glad to be back at Dixie state and not having to sit on my couch bored as ever. I am 23 years old and my birthday is October 11, 1993. I plan on graduating this upcoming fall which I'm really excited for and it will be my last season playing football. Then after i will start my dream to become a firefighter. I am really looking forward to taking this class and I'm glad to have professor Young again i enjoyed his last class i took in the summer.
